RoutTag ("Company", "we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, store, and share your personal information when you use the RoutTag mobile application and website (collectively, the "Platform"). By using the Platform, you consent to the practices described herein.

  • Account Information: Full name, email address, phone number, profile photo, and password.
  • Identity Verification: Government-issued ID, selfie for facial verification, and address proof (for couriers).
  • Payment Information: Bank account details, wallet transaction history, and billing addresses.
  • Package Details: Package descriptions, pickup and delivery addresses, photos, and declared values.
  • Business Information: Business name, registration number, fleet details (for business couriers).

b. Information Collected Automatically

  • Location Data: Real-time GPS location for route matching, delivery tracking, and trip verification.
  • Device Information: Device type, operating system, unique device identifiers, IP address, and browser type.
  • Usage Data: Pages visited, features used, time spent on the Platform, search queries, and click patterns.
  • Communication Data: In-app messages between senders and couriers (for safety and dispute resolution).

c. Information from Third Parties

  • Identity verification services.
  • Payment processors and financial institutions.
  • Social media platforms (if you sign in via a social account).

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To create and manage your account.
  • To match senders with couriers based on routes and proximity.
  • To process payments, wallet funding, and withdrawals.
  • To provide real-time tracking of packages.
  • To verify user identities and prevent fraud.
  • To resolve disputes between senders and couriers.
  • To send transactional notifications (delivery updates, payment confirmations).
  • To improve and personalize the Platform experience.
  • To communicate promotional offers and updates (with your consent).
  • To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms.

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share data with:

  • Other Users: Senders see a courier's name, profile photo, rating, and real-time location during delivery. Couriers see the sender's name, pickup/delivery addresses, and package details.
  • Service Providers: Payment processors, identity verification partners, cloud hosting providers, and analytics services that help us operate the Platform.
  • Law Enforcement: When required by law, subpoena, or court order, or to protect the safety of our users and the public.
  • Business Transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your data may be transferred to the acquiring entity.

4. Data Storage & Security

  • Your data is stored on secure cloud servers with encryption at rest and in transit.
  • We implement industry-standard security measures including firewalls, access controls, and regular security audits.
  • Sensitive data such as passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text.
  • Despite our efforts, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

5. Data Retention

  • Account data is retained for as long as your account is active.
  • Transaction and delivery records are retained for a minimum of 5 years for regulatory compliance.
  • If you delete your account, personal data is removed within 90 days, except where retention is required by law.
  • Anonymized and aggregated data may be retained indefinitely for analytics and improvement purposes.

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:

  • Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.

Location data is central to how RoutTag works. We use your device's GPS to match couriers with senders, provide live tracking, and verify deliveries. You can disable location permissions through your device settings, but this may limit the Platform's functionality.

8. Cookies & Tracking Technologies

  • We use cookies, local storage, and similar technologies on our website to improve user experience and analyze traffic.
  • Third-party analytics providers (e.g., Google Analytics) may collect anonymous usage data.
  • You can manage cookie preferences through your browser settings.

9. Children's Privacy

The Platform is not intended for individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If we become aware that a child under 18 has provided personal data, we will delete it promptly.

10. International Data Transfers

Your data may be processed in countries other than your country of residence. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for any cross-border data transfers in compliance with applicable data protection regulations, including the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR).

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via in-app notification or email. Continued use of the Platform after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
